Thank you all for the kind responses and offers to help. Mary hasn't had anything to eat or drink since last Monday night, and then, maybe just a tablespoon in total. She is now taking just 5-6 breaths a minute. She is totally unresponsive. All I can do is sit by her bedside, hold her hand and talk to her, telling her how much I love her and what a great wife, mother and Nana she is. I read to her, a lot from the book of Psalms. She has always liked Psalms, she says they're poetic.

They keep her very heavily medicated, to try to alleviate her pain, anxiety, and fear. I hope it's doing that; I can't stand the thought of her hurting and unable to let anyone know. She's not even able to open her eyes anymore.

Again thanks for the many kind words and prayers.

@druryj - Joel you have served others your entire lifetime. The Marines, administration in the education system and most importantly your family. Mary has been your partner in all of this for many years and nothing and I do mean nothing can or will ever change the feelings felt, memories, lessons learned together, hard times handled together, babies born together, grand baby's born together, high school graduations and so on and so on.
The life you shared together has born so much good, so much positive energy and so much love. The legacy is not only solid Sir, but one to be emulated.

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
