Yes. When introduced it was in Browning bolt guns. Very little to no aftermarket support for long range accessories.
As well as unfounded and false reports of early throat erosion.
Had the caliber been introduced in the Rem 700 action, we might have a different story.
Saw a magazine on the grocery counter back when it was hot of the .223WSSM wildcatters getting 5000 fps velocity with .30 grain Bergers I think.
The .22 Dasher has broken the 5000 fps mark.

Bought mine in 2008. Ammo was on the shelf at just about every big box store.
Think I've got 500 rounds of brass. Most new in the bag. The Winchester Supreme Nickel Coated brass sure makes a pretty cartridge when loaded, but the brass cases seem to hold better groups using the same load data.

.219 zipper should be an obscure enough build! Sorry I Googled the round last night and it seamed like a hell of a varmint round in its hey day. But an ar57 build should get you humming along pretty nicely!

What about 218 bee? Or maybe 22 savage high power just watch out for those .227 projectiles in a .224 bore
