Does anyone have any suggestion of where to turn for helping neglected cows and horses?
There is nowhere near enough forage on the land to sustain these animals at present - let alone the coming fall and winter. The animals are already showing signs of starvation.
Animal rescue can't do anything without a request from law enforcement. The Agriculture Department has no authority without a warrant from the District Attorney.
We have brought this to the attention of our local sheriff's department. One deputy has looked at the cattle and said it appeared to him that there was not enough evidence of neglect. The consensus seems to be that the animals have to be half dead before the case can be brought to the District Attorney. We would like to prevent the eminent suffering and death of these animals.
Any information that will help these animals will be appreciated.
