OK schools require/naturalization test

The test and questions come directly from immigration web page.

My question is why are they requiring this?
I had 2 kids take it today and pass.

I understand the schools are flooded with illegal kids/ not US born.
So if they take this test will they begin their citizenship or actually get their citizenship?

They’re taking it as a civics test. The State of Oklahoma is either too lazy or too poor to write their own tests. They also use the ACT to measure Mathematics and English comprehension.

No they would not be naturalized or gain citizenship from simply taking the test. There are many other requirements to gaining US citizenship. One of which is being over 18, the majority of student test takers do not meet that requirement. It’s more likely that using this test as “end of instruction” test is political posturing from republicans to demonstrate how well our students know their country. Most of which don’t…

Back in the day you couldn't get out of the 9th grade unless you could pass an Oklahoma History class.
That requirement sure went by the wayside somewhere down the road.

The requirement is still there. It’s just that everyone “passes” now.

Or maybe this is yet another actual conservative action that "conservatives" can't recognize.

Why in the world would you spend the money and effort to write an exam on civics when the US Gov't has already created, and made available for free, a test that is, by all accounts, comprehensive and requires actual knowledge of American civics?

Good Lord, if conservatives are going to be as knee-jerk reactionary as leftists, the republic is completely screwed.
