My 10/22 was bought in 1977 .I had the same issue I ended up countersinking opposite sides of the receiver and replacing the stock pins w/ long shank screws, I cut the threads off the screws.I found screws that were slightly over size chucked them in a drill and removed just enough for them to be a tight fit.
