Oh it still got around. It was just easier for administration to sweep under the rug. I don't think it was possible to be a coach and not "diddle" a cheerleader. Seemed to be a right of passage back in the day. If you were a coach or a cheerleader, anyway.
I'll take your word for it. I was neither... :D

Seriously though, "discretion" seems to have little/no meaning to kids these days. :/

For the record, I was neither a coach, nor a cheerleader. I was the quiet kid, who worked in the office and paid attention to what was being said by the people around me -- both in class and in the office. People who thought I wasn't paying attention. It is amazing what you can hear when you are shuffling papers and "reading".

Discretion wasn't exactly the order of the day back in the 70s either, apparently.

We always heard rumors of coaching and high school girls. These days it always seems to be the female teachers going after the young boys. I really don’t think that happened much back in my day. I would have heard about it.

Have you guys seriously forgot what hound dogs 14-17yr olds can be? :D
How about the 20 10-13yr. old girls molested at Perry last year? The principal called 10 of them liars when they reported and 10 more got molested. The principal was only charged with one misdemeanor and got probation.

How about the teacher who made soft kiddie porn in class at McCloud a couple of years back with 3rd. grade girls hear about that one? It resulted in a $1.4Mil. lawsuit that property tax had to cover part of because the ins. cap was reached.

Regardless of whether it's girls or boys what does it say about a system that covers these things up allowing them to continue?

There was a MUCH older female science teacher that rumors always fluttered about here and there when I was in high school but nothing substantial ever came of any of it, far as I ever knew. There was also a VERY attractive coaches' wife who some said fixed grades for players and "entertained" favorites. I personally thought she was a bit too touchy-feely with the handsome boys in class but ehhh ... she was a former cheerleader so I just figured that was her personality. Who the heck really knows? Seems like she and her husband split up after she left him for a student a few years later. Or maybe it was the other way around. I've been gone from there forever and got all my info 42nd hand so take it with the 50-pound bag of salt I'm offering it with.

But point taken, it did seem to be a man's world for the longest time. Guess women's lib has ruined more than the job market and sammich making, huh?

Or maybe you weren't in the loop as much as you thought... :D

Things were just different 30-40 years ago. I have a family law book from that era that indicates a juvenile male 14 or older generally wouldn't be considered a victim of statutory rape by a woman.

Again... 14-17yr old boys are just hound dogs. I know because I was one. :D

Doing exactly the same thing, it was just swept under the rug.

More than most realize or others want to admit, and how many of those who "care about the kids" kept quiet?

The only indiscretions I heard about when in Junior and Senior high was the teachers diddling each other. The same pairs would disappear into the boiler room on a regular basis during lunch hours.
Most of these teachers get caught now because of texts and sexting. Boys share to be a hero or parents find the pics.

It seems like you hear of one of these daily.

Really bad in Texas, 686 teachers surrendered or had their licenses revoked between 2010-2016. Interesting thing is they say a students word against a teacher isn't enough, guess the "believe the victim" and #metoo doesn't work in school like in college, Hollywood, or Family/DHS court. Again where are all the activist and those who care about the kids?
