Has anyone else received any messages off armslist from this Paul 1776 guy? I kinda think he's a scammer but not totally sure. He doesn't seem to have a decent grasp of the English language. He won't text or call, he just sends messages on armslist. He messaged me about my shotgun, says it's for his wife, then says his son.

Not using that some, but I received very similar messages from 3 others at various times

All 3 wanted the gun shipped to Illinois.
All 3 sent a copy of "their" DL. Oregon license, same dl#, same address, same pic, different name.
All 3 sent copy of FFL, the same FFL.
The last one, sent me a check for $3500. I had not given him a name or address.
The bank did not exist

Local PD, OSBI, nor ATF were interested

I’ll bet you the same $100 bill and my dog’s right nut that none of those agencies did jacksh** with any of the information you gave them.

Hopefully they got back in contact with you and you can prove me wrong, but it ain’t about the guns with these guys, it’s about the money, and there’s too many of them to fool with them. It isn’t always guns, it is anything you’re selling.

I wish I was wrong, but I’m not. The longest journey starts with the first step. If they’d put some of these dirtbags in prison for extended terms, maybe word would get around, and some of this foolishness would cease.

After MY making a report, their only question was, "did I ship a handgun?"

No, I did not, i REPORTED FRAUD.

No other contact since.

I lost a lot of respect for State and Fed LE, at that time.

Regarding the OSBI, I can state that the incident isn't within their jurisdiction. There are very few crimes that is in the OSBI's authority to act upon unless it is one that is requested by another Oklahoma law enforcement agency. I think that is referred to as "original jurisdiction." Most of the cases the OSBI get involved with are with requests by other law enforcement agencies that may not have the technical expertise nor technical equipment for the investigation.

I’d bet you $100 and my dog’s left testicle (if he still had them) that he’s a scammer.

Scammers run so many different deals at once, they can’t keep up. When someone’s stories don’t match, they’re lying. Even if he wasn’t, I wouldn’t sell him a firearm.
I told him I think he's trolling me and he quit responding.
