"What had happened was..."

This is the introduction to the most idiotic legal defenses known to man. Commonly heard in courtrooms and police interview rooms after the accused is informed of or shown the evidence against them, it introduces the ridiculous set of "facts" that Jane or Johnny Methhead expect you to believe. A common derivative is, "No. See, what had happened was..."

Along those lines, I hate it when people with no prior law enforcement or military experience keep calling their gun a weapon.

I'm curious why this bothers you? I would understand not referring to guns primarily used for sporting purposes as weapons, but I carry my Glock for protection. If the main function of the gun is for protection, then calling it a weapon is quite accurate, is it not?

Surely you don't believe that only individuals with prior military and law enforcement experience should be allowed to own weapons?
