Places for budget cabinets...

Plan to buy a few kitchen cabinets this week while in OKC, and was wondering if there are places we should look besides Lowes and Home Depot? Just wanting plain, unfinished, paintable cabinets. TIA

Cabinet outlet/builders warehouse at 10th and Rockwell is well know for cheap cabinets. Might give them a try

Both of these have a back room scratch N dent area for cabinets.

TIP: Know your measurements and have a floor plan/wall plan. You can get some really nice looking stuff in the scratch N dents.

We got a great deal on cabinets from Builder's Warehouse. All wood cabinets and you can choose standard or upgraded materials and things like drawer slides. We installed and finished them ourselves. 36" cabinets. Quartz countertops installed by their crew.

The entire set of cabinets and countertops were around $4600. Same quality with a slightly upgraded countertop and upgraded drawer slides from HD was $20K...that was before installation.

Not in OKC, but Sutherland's has stock, unfinished cabinets, variety of sizes.

Cabinets can get into BIG $$$, quickly. It pays to shop.

What stain etc did you put on them?

I have no idea what stain we used. My wife did all the staining and sealing. I did all the grunt work. I'll axe her...

99% of the ones at lowes and Home Depot are made with particle board and are pretty expensive. You might consider building your own. I think that you could save quite a bit of money. With that being said, I plan on checking out Cabinet Outlet the next time that I’m in OKC.
