Post Office Carry

No this isn't another "can I carry" thread. I know that USPS is off limits. My question is about the downtown post office (maybe all of them). There are some kind of monitors at the entrance and I wonder if they are metal detectors or if they are just for show? I didn't have a gun on but I DID have plenty of metal on me and I didn't set off any alarms.

Any ideas?

They really don't look like typical metal detectors. They looked more life the RFID detectors at Wal-Mart but what the heck would those be doing there?

Don't you know the things are there to detect all the embedded RFID tags in all the Glocks and other plastic guns.

Actually, they are full body scanners.
not really, just tag scanners in case anyone steals any of the wonderful merchandise from the postal store there.

bah... i bought a roll of tape and a marker there once because i was in a hurry to ship something, and i swear they bought it at wal-mart and then marked it up
