What about Haiti?

Well, if they were an American territory that yesterday voted in favor of citizenship, I might just start a thread on the matter :D

Short of congress stepping in I'd suspect our prez will push it right thru.

Congress can't "step in" as they're kind of the penultimate required step here; the President signing their Act is the final action. That's how statehood works. It's why we aren't two separate states.

Looks like it was an interesting two-part vote. I always read that the people would likely never choose statehood because their current status was kind of like that of a 20 something living with the parents. All the cool stuff without the responsibility. That must not have been totally accurate, given that the trend is "memememe", I think there must be, at least some perceived advantage to becoming a state.

I trained a bunch of national guard guys from Puerto Rico one cycle. They'd get mad at each other and it sounded like Ricky Ricardo yelling at Lucy.
