I'm looking for info and a ballpark value on a Rem 700 (.243Win) that was supposed to be a sniper rifle for Norman PD and built by J.D. Dever(?) I'm not familiar with the builder to know how sought after his work is. Thanks

.243 is not a "common" chambering for snipers in the law enforcement community. I'd make some calls to Norman PD and see if you can find an old guy that was SWAT back in the day to start asking about it. Maybe Dever built it but not for a SWAT gun......?
Yeah I would want verification it was actually a department gun versus the cool story to add to the price of the gun.
If J.B. Dever built it should be stamped with his name and caliber. Usually on left side of barrel.
I think you may be referring to Jack B Dever. He worked out of his home garage at the time but that's a memory from long ago when he built a Winchester Model 70 in 30-338 for my father in law. The barrel is stamped JB Dever. He also reamed out a Remington 700 to from 280 to 280 AI for my father in law. Jack was his friend and passed in 2003.
