Ridin' the safety...

How many of you cocked & locked guys ride the thumb safety? I read somewhere that this was the proper way to shoot a 1911.

Your thoughts and comments please.

Yes, ride the safety and thumbs forward... it helps control recoil.

Once my thumb safety comes off, I drop under the safety that way I can hit it back on if I need to.

it also helps you not inadvertently hit the safety during fire.

Nothing. I just like the Executives Companion better than the Summer Special 2. I ordered this one because it was in stock. I hate waiting 6 months for a scabbard.

If nobody shows up with an EC, I'll just keep this SS2 - no worries.

I've never used a Milt-Sparks... I always buy Don Hume.... good, local company.

I also don't own an IWB either.... I probably should though...

never heard of this "ride the safety" thingy, but i also wasnt a 1911 fan until one dropped in my lap recently

I ride the hell out of it. And that's why I like the extended one, it's like a recliner for my thumb!

Now if I was to go under, I guarantee I would find a way to fat finger it up at just the wrong time.
