That is an illegal sales practice and violation of the Fair Credit Act, Truth in Lending and several other federal laws. You have an actionable tort claim against the dealership as well as a legitimate criminal complaint. I am an AFIP certified Financial Specialist and ended my 22 year career in the car business yesterday. Dealers that still do business like that need to be held to account and either do business the right way or close up shop and open a McDonalds.

What do you want to bet their paper trail on this transaction pretty much disappeared the moment he walked off the lot? :(

I bet it was quickly shredded as soon as they realized I wasn't coming back. Wish I had known more about the legal aspect. I might have wound up with a really good deal.

I have now found others who were sold the extended warranty without realizing it. One after specifically rejecting the warranty. Also learned that the warranty can be cancelled and refund demanded. BEST MOVE= STAY AWAY FROM ROBERTS AUTO IN PRYOR.

I work the back office of a repair shop. Extended warranty companies make good about 20% - 25% of the time. You're better off putting the money aside to pay for repairs yourself.
Also
Always have a used vehicle inspected by a third party mechanic before purchasing. If the dealer won't agree, he's screwing you.

They don't like you to use outside financing either. When I bought my truck last year, I had already worked out the financing with my credit union and the salesman didn't know it. When we settled on a price he told me told me to follow him to the finance department. I told him I didn't need it, that I already had money available and just needed a sales contract.

He looked really uncomfortable and wrote the paperwork I needed. When I came back with the authorization letter, he said that I had to talk to the sales manager. I said "I'll talk to him, but it's not going to do any good".

The sales manager walks in and starts his speech about what a good deal he can give me on financing and I told him "no thanks, it's already taken care of". He looked like someone kicked his dog, took my paperwork and left.

I absolutely hate that "Doc Fees" They refuse to budge from charging $199 bucks or so. I have even argued with them and said I'd drive the paperwork to the tag agency and they refused.

Just an extra fee to the dealership. When buying my new truck earlier this month, I found the doc fees ran anywhere from $400+ to no doc fees at all.

I bought a Colorado at Smicklas last August, no problems. Well, they didn't want me to use my credit union, but they didn't fuss with me over it. When showed the extended warranty stuff I just said "not interested" and that was that.

Wound up ordering a 2017, built to taste. Actually cheaper than the Roberts deal. If you want a Ford, try Vance Ford in Miami, OK. Vance placed the order for me and sent me the VIN as soon as the vehicle was placed in line for production. I get an update about weekly and the folks act as excited as I am. So far, I know of 3 people who are cancelling their extended warranty from Roberts. Maybe with enough customer pressure, they will rethink their marketing system. There are honest auto dealers around. You just have to hunt for them.
