Mr. Rock and Roll. I listened to him a lot. 92.5 is one of my favorite stations.
I liked listening to him, what did he say?
I used to be a regular dancer on his "The Scene" TV show back in 1967-68,,,
After a while I was promoted to be a WKY Cutie,,,
Complete with "Mod" dancing outfit.
We went to the WKY studio once every two weeks to tape two shows,,,
Got to meet several pop stars of the time including Jerry Lee Lewis,,,
What a complete ass-hole that man was.
I remember Ronnie Kaye as a very nice guy,,,
Who wanted us kids to have fun,,,
His wife, on the other hand,,,
Was somewhat of a witch.
Being a WKY Cutie was like having a Chick-Magnet in my pocket,,,
We would go with the crew to any of the 6-10 weekly Dances that Channel 4 sponsored.
Two or three dance couples per dance,,,
We got to dance on the stage with the band,,,
That's undoubtedly where my hearing problems started.
But,,,
It got me chicks.

Interesting Ronnie Kaye encounter. Around 1974 I was night manager of the student union at Southwester Ok State University. Involved just answering the phone and locking up the union eventually. We were having a dance one night and Ronnie Kaye was going to host. Got a phone call that he was stranded with car trouble at the Cherokee Trading post east of town. I offered to come get him. In somewhat of a hurry to get him to the student union since he was running late..... about a block from the union I was stopped by Weatherford police for going a little fast. I got out of the car to explain the situation.....about that time Ronnie got out of the car from the passenger side to help explain. The officer got excited and yelling at him to get back in.....he didn't.....luckily we didn't get shot and were allowed to continue.
Geez....don't take much to get fired in this day and age.
