Except they did...
It's true Ford didn't get a loan from TARP funds like GM ($13.4B including $6B to GMAC) and Chrysler ($4B) did. Ford got $6B in low-cost loans under the TALF in exchange for fast-tracking the development of "greener" vehicles...which won favor with the Obama administration. Oh, yeah...Ford Credit also borrowed $15.9B.
Perhaps Ford did borrow some, but now answer the question as to whether the automakers "paid back" all that was borrowed. General Motors and The Chrysler Group did NOT pay all their debt. I don't know whether Ford paid all of their loans back.
In fact, GM's CEO at one time was in a commercial stating that they had paid back all of their loans "with interest," but in reality, that "pay back" was done with more funds that were borrowed from the government. Even someone in the Obama administration had to verify that GM's pay back was with more government money.
