And how many guns have been sold at gun shows that were never used in lunatic shooting sprees?

It's like airline crashes. Hundreds if not thousands of flights are made each day without incident. But one crash and the whole system has to be investigated for safety.

Had some trouble getting this to load--here's the content in case the link goes:

WATERBURY, Conn. – The police chief in a Connecticut city has halted permits for gun shows, saying he's concerned any firearms purchased there might one day be used in a mass shooting.

The Republican-American reports that Waterbury Police Superintendent Michael Gugliotti imposed a moratorium the day after the Dec. 14 killings of 20 children and six educators at a grade school not far away in Newtown.

He says he's concerned a gun used in a future mass shooting could be traced to a purchase made at a show in Waterbury.

Westchester Collectors Inc. had planned a firearm and knife show for Jan. 12 and 13. Show organizer Newman B. Chittenden says canceling the gun show will not improve security.

He says that vendors will turn away people who have mental health problems and that they use common sense when evaluating whether to sell.

This will probably get sorted out in court. No telling what the decision will be.

I changed the color on the last two paragraphs. I wonder if any of the "antis" will question the qualifications of vendors to determine who does and does not have mental heallth problems . . .

I get an image of a boxer with his arms extended out to the side saying "hit me if you see an opening."

Its just , Sad, to think ,there are people out there that are too ignorant to know that they will just go to the next town , gunshow or whatever to get a gun.
Its like... slowing them down or something.

.Its not about guns , its about Control!!

Hopefully, Mr. Chittenden will file suit against the city and against the chief personally. A good argument could be made that Mr. Chittenden had sufficient property interest in the permit that its revocation is a Fifth Amendment taking.

I would understand maybe if closing down the gun show was out of respect for the the parents and families of the kids who were shot. But blaming it on some dreamed up connection between gun shows and the shooting is plain ignorant.
