Thanks for the clarification. Mine have a factory offset of about 1/4".
I have some traps that were bought several years ago from a trapper that got out of the sport. They have some soft copper wire, about a #10 wrapped around one jaw.

Had my first leg hold tripped with nothing in it yesterday before the wet weather. Didn't see any tracks to be sure what it was, but suspect a fast cat. Don't know for sure.

Went out today and salted the traps to get the ice and snow softened up. Don't know how effective that is, but I read about doing that.
