Our politicians would then argue that they had to go along and support the ban in order to get a few compromises and keep it from being even worse. "It is a rotten deal and I hate but it was the best we could do."

Which is EXACTLY what coburn did when he voted for the stimulus package. I lost a whole lot of respect for him that day and he's done nothing since to earn it back.

If Coburn would do that then any of 'em would.
