I have a 29, and have to say, I was very surprised by the recoil. It has some kick, yes, but it is very managable and I have never shot a compact handgun with as much accuracy as this Glock. As far as ammo, Georgia Arms has reasonably priced 10mm Auto, got 1k rounds for about 380 before shipping. My only complaint is the weight, but with one of the good Kydex lined belts, this will be a non-issue. I can wear a t-shirt and shorts and you can't tell I'm carrying at all. Plus, it turns a few heads at the range when you pull out a tiny pistol and it sounds like you have a hand held howitzer.

I vote G26.

The difference in stopping power of 40 vs 9 is minimal in the least. Both come down to shooter accuracy.

Besides, most studies that I've read put a 127gr +p JHP bullet (such as a gold dot) as having better penetration w/o over-penetration as compared to the equivalent .40. Plus the extra rounds in the 26 give much more possibilities as if there are multiple bad guys.

And lastly, cheap cheap practice ammo. I shoot couple hundred rounds a month and its the difference of 30-50 month in ammo which i put towards more ammo!

Stopping power is a vapor argument. As VD said, its more about shot placement. That said, personally, I shoot .40 a lot better than I shoot 9mm. Dont know why, I just do. So for me, .40. I will say, though, in the subcompact glocks, I dont know if I would like the recoil without the added grip of a G23. So, I would be inclined to go against my preference in calibre and go with a G26 (although, I would have to fire both back to back to firm up that decision).

The G26 is very comfortable to shoot, no question about it. A couple of days ago I was shooting my G27. I fired several magazines, some as fast as I could in the dirt, at a plastic bottle adjusting my aim instinctively and hitting the target. A couple of times I had to stop to let the gun cool a little, otherwise I had no problem. I reload so price is not an issue.
Having said that I love to shoot and carry my G26 quite often. All people don't perceive recoil the same way. I had a 7mm Mag that used to beat me up and a 300 Wby that felt like a pussycat. Go figure.
I think trying both and deciding might be the way to go. Either way is a winner.

I hear ya. My EDC in the cooler months is a G23. The recoil, at least in my opinion, isnt bad (I must be ok with it since I can shoot flies with my G23 and cant hit any respectable groups with a G19). However, in the subcompacts, I just dont feel like I have enough "grip" on the G27 unless I have a pinky extension on my mags. Then, I might as well just stick with my G23.

As far as the 7mm statement. Ha! My go to hunting rifle for whitetail and elk is a 7mm Rem Mag. I nearly dislocate my shoulder when sighting it in and luckily, all I need to take is one shot when actually hunting. But I do agree, most 7mm's in the magnum end are pure mules.

Glock 27 & Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel and 2 G26 Mags.

Its like having a G26 & G27, for about $160 more than the price of one gun.

9mm for the cheap range ammo and .40 for carry.

My 27 will drive a tack with the Lone Wolf barrel. I use G26 mags but you could get G17 Mags and put the little sleeve over them if you wanted a little extra length & more rounds.

Guys if I was totally set on the 10MM would you call me crazy? I know it's impractical, but it would be a nice carry gun for Colorado, hog hunting, etc. Am I being irrational or what???

I figure I've got all the others may as well try something else. What do you all think?

Nothing crazy about it. Many use it. The 10 is a great cartridge and you seem to be comfortable with the idea.
You can experiment with different loads to find what you like.
Go for it!
