People were pissing me off on the drive to work here in Austin this morning so I just wanted to rant. Please add some of your own and it doesn't have to be about cars.

You Know You're a ********* if...

...you have HID headlights.

...you have HID headlights on your 1985 Buick.

...you always drive with your foglamps on no matter the weather.

...you have HID (blue) headlights and you still drive around with your old yellowish foglamps on too.

I may add more as I think of 'em.

.

like this..so sick of being blinded by the hID lights and Freaking fog lamps on clear days...think I read recently oklahoma is going (back to) with a law against driving with fog lights on.

wow, that is remarkably dumb! Why would they do that? Fog lamps are lower power and generally colored so that they don't reflect off of fog. Same reason you don't turn on your high beams in fog.
Yet they do provide a safety service as far as daylight running lights and are switched on automatically by a huge number of vehicles during all operation.

I can't say that I have ever felt blinded or even noticed peoples fog lights? Are we talking about the same thing or are you guys talking about "KC" style lights?

uhh.... really.

Fog lamps are in general rather less bright than typical low beams. Unless someone has replaced them with driving lights, or installed driving lights aftermarket. Fog lamps are so called, because they disperse light low to the ground, rather than a sharp beam, which in fog a lot of that beam gets reflected back at the driver.

they don't blind me during the day..only at night (ussually in the rear view mirror. Volvo sits low) so no arguement about daylight running lights. And I am sorry but they blind the crap out of me on a regular basis. My suv has fog lights and daylight running lights, volvo has fog lights. Neither come on unless I hit the switch. I personally do not agree that running fogs all the time does anything. It used to be a law (been stopped for it in the 90's.)

Guys what I am refering to is actual fog lights on the low bumper, not daylights. In a low car they will blind you from a rear view, doesn't bother me as much meeting a car with them on, usually just wonder where the hell the fog is. nuisance for me.

yep really!

how about a set of them in the rear view of a low running car. Remember we are a pickup state, so all the cool fog lights blind cars they come up on from the back.

btw, has No one here caught the fact the name is Fog light, meaning it is for fog, or weather to that effect. Giving you good low light for those conditions.

We have a 2010 IS250. The HID headlamps on that thing are amazing! There's a sharply defined line on how high they will illuminate, which is definitely not high enough to blind oncoming drivers. The right one illuminates a step higher then the left. The spill low and to the sides pretty much makes fog lamps unnecessary. Oh, and they turn with the steering wheel to illuminate the corners. No one ever flashes their brights at me. Yet when on e a lonely stretch of road, the high beams light up like stadium lighting!

I put Sylvania Silver Stars in all my halogen equipped vehicles. My wife is mildly night blind, so the extra light at a warmer temperature is a safety measure. Even they don't hold a candle to those HID's though.

Oh, and I hate stupid drivers. You know who you are! :D
