It's always safe to have a bill of sale signed by both parties for a firearm transaction. We tell our customers if you don't know who you're selling the gun to, we'll do a background check (transfer) for them for a small fee.

Safe has nothing to do with it, There is no law that requires it so why do you all want to push another law into effect??? Yeah you and every other ffl with do a transfer for a small fee.

All I'm saying is some people care about who their selling a firearm to. I surely don't want any additional laws passed regarding firearms. What I'm trying to say is some people might feel better about selling a firearm if they knew the other person could legally own it. I'm not saying all individual sales should require background checks. It's just an option.

maybe, until proven innocent?

well thanks for being a good sport. as for the suggestion, i feel it could go either way. i forget what the negative is to getting a receipt, but my opinioni is like evveryone else is suggesting it is just a piece of property. and when they show up tell em to pound sand....

The situation this thread was started on, safe has alot to do with it. If the guy had a bill of sale showing who it was sold to there would have been alot less trouble on his end. The bill of sale could have been written on a napkin.

for me I've done a bill of sale and wasn't comfy with the idea but went ahead. I won't do it again. I'd gladly let them ask my name and write it down.

Heh, the "situation" that started this thread sounds like urban legend BS. I'm sure people have been asked before, but this sure doesn't sound like a specific, detailed actual case to me. Just a hypothetical scare.

I prefer the Dave Chappelle method. Just hang out your window pleasuring yourself and yelling the time and date to draw attention every couple hours. It's fun, gives you a rock hard... alibi, and doesn't require you to do any annoying paperwork.

Problem solved
