We were informed last year by OKC that we need to start mowing behing our fence that backs up to a main road. This area is about as large as my back yard and my front yard put together and has a ditch that I is dangerous to mow, and my I don't have gate access to this ares. I need to find someone who will kill this grass for me. I called Truegreen and it must be unethical for them to kill grass, just treat it. Agrilawn will do it, but they will have to come out 3 times a year to kill it and charge $60 each time. Does anyone know who might do this and maybe add some hot pink paint into the mix?

Lowes carry's a spray that is supposed to be effective at killing grass, and weeds for up to a year.

Could killing all the grass create an erosion problem that would affect your property?

I'd be more concerned with the effects of runoff from as much pesticide as it'd take to kill the grass in such a wholesale application. If the ditch lines the road, isn't that on city property or right-of-way? If so, wouldn't they be responsible for mowing that portion of the property?

This is exactly why I would never own property next to a road like that where the city basically owns it (even though it really belongs to you) but you are responsible for the upkeep.

I don't think you can spray enough pesticide on the grass to kill it.

I hear Agent Orange works fairly well.

Get a survey of your property to confirm if you infact own that dirt. If you don't tell them to beat it.

Are you looking to kill the grass in the ditch alone or the rest of the area as well?

Not quite true. A pesticide is a substance that kills a pest, which can be an animal or a plant or other organism. A herbicide is a class of pesticide that specifically targets a nuisance plant or plants, while an insecticide is another class of pesticide that targets insects, etc.
