It looks like that is some sort of mortat holding the pieces together. My forst thought was petrified wood, but the whole mortar thing throws that out. How big is it? how heavy?
I had my wife look at it, she is the director of the Sheerar museum in Stillwater. She thinks it is likely either a section of an log home or fencing, most likely log home. that is just based off what we can see here.
It kinda looks like a couple of segments from a Crinoid. Not sure tho.
Scratch that, then, not with those measurements. We would need to see it. Possibly a tool handle or piece of a tool.
