I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys 'R Us kid. There's a million toys at Toys 'R Us that I can play with. From bikes to trains to video games at the biggest toy store there is. I don't wanna grow up cause if I did, I couldn't be a Toys 'R Us kid.

The names on my toy store changes every so often, but the feeling never gets old.

I was a yute once though. I did a lot of stuff that I probably shouldn't have. It usually involved a vehicle not always a motor vehicle, usually it had a steering wheel, but not always. About a 50/50 split on whether or not said vehicle had wheels.

I did so much bad crap that I told both of my kids, "there's nothing you can do that I haven't done and I'll know when you're doing it!" :nono1:

I also told them that there's no more fun left in the world. We used up all the fun in the 80's. :sunbath:

Interesting thread, I think I mostly respond to posted comments (If someone else did it also, it might be considered acceptable) well, not necessarily acceptable, but at least someone else might have done it also and I might not feel like a renegade.

A group of us got over in the corner at our 45th HS reunion and as each one of us would start out with "Hey remember when you did da da"? With all of them looking at me and knowing some of them were there present at the time, there was not much I could say. They would know better if I tried to say, "Yes that was my other brother Bob, the one who was always trying to make me look bad." All I could say was ahh yep, lucky to be walking around alive ain't I.

This forum has been good to incite recall of items that have been pushed back to the fuzzy areas of the brain. If I feel someone else has done the same things, I might admit somewhat. Again lucky to be walking the streets alive.

I have been 125+ off all four directions of the lights at 11th and Sheridan (Tulsa) on various Friday or Saturday nights drag racing my Chevy in the late 60's. If the light turns red, you stop and pull up to the starting line in the racing attitude, correct? Always hoping for a 390 ford, 409 Chevy, or my favorite, a 413 MOPAR that I loved to flog the most with my 327 Chevy, to show up. I have been known to slow down to make sure I would not make it through the existing green light in those days (mostly nights) or make a U-Turn to get into position for what ever might pull up. I have gotten a few speeding tickets since then, I smile every time, they will never get close to catching up to getting even with me.

I also had sex with a 16 year old, however, (I was 15 1/2 at the time). After over 38 years, I did make amends. I married the same "older" woman 8 years ago, my HS sweetheart. Wifey and I bought another 56 Chevy just for fun to get "back to our roots." We must have been shorter or more flexible then. May be they make the Hurst 4 speed shifters with a different bend now or something, steering wheel really gets in the way. My original 56 Chevy 327 4 speed fit really well 50 years ago, what happened?

Here is one I will share,
Starting at 10 in the morning at Eagle Bluff on the 15 mile canoe trip on the Illinois River and pulling up to return the canoe after midnight on a full moon night is something I suspect many of you might not have done, nor I am sure will ever be allowed to do forever in the future. Been there, done that, contact me if you have done it, do not call me for bail if you decide to do it, I want to shake your hand. It took 24 beers in a heavy walled Styrofoam ice chest and 2 gallons of my special Mia Tia mix in discarded milk jugs to make the trip. Had to stop and play in the water a few times on the way and got behind schedule. My car was the only one left on the lot. Drove back to Tulsa. I am here and alive.

How about a real (no holding the front brake crap) 2nd gear 40-50 ft burnout down the sidewalk in front of the Stables Lounge on Peoria Ave Tulsa with a 72 750 3cy 2stroke Kawasaki about that same year time frame. (This was the real original crotch rocket) Black mark was there a long time, but you could see where the concrete was polished with a stripe for 20 years after when I went into the paint store that took over that area. That was at one of the Sunday night, std $2 at the door for all the beer you could drink in an hour, and then listen to whoever showed up to play in the band that night. A guy by the name of Clapton was sitting in that night, and kinda took over. (He has lived in Tulsa most of his life for those who might not know) Aretha Franklin had belted out there a couple weeks earlier, just stopped by on the way to somewhere else. Those were great days of great real live music in Tulsa.

Just thinking, How many of you would pay $2 at the door to get into a joint to get "free" beer for an hour with canned music and then have to switch over and listen to some guy by the name of Clapton twang his guitar for a couple hours while they switched over and you had to start paying 25 cents a draw for your beer?

How about me and my dad taking a 100 ft tape measure and marking off the 1320ft 1/4 mile on the unfinished dead end Mingo Valley expressway (now HW 169 to Owasso) south of 46th street north exit and painting a silver F for the finish line at the 46th street bridge in about 1962, (good paint, it was still readable 10 years ago) way before the drag race track and Saturday night drags. We frequently had over 50 cars turn out on Saturday nights, including the Babbot beater from Durant and what ever his name was with the modified GTO from Enid. Jerrie whats her name with the big boobs was our flag lady, locals had an advantage, they would watch for the downward bounce before she raised the flag. Chuck Ford (local guy) and some of his officers from the TPD would come by about 10PM or so and watch us a little while, tell us to be safe, and drive away to look for bad guys causing problems.

Then I got older an wiser. I got a pilots license, now I could finally go as fast as my machine will take me at 140 mph for hours. If I want to go faster, get a faster machine. What worries me the most is that I am now having more fun in one of my machines that will fly as slow as 29MPH just for fun. What happened? I guess I got tired of burning my hair off with speed and decided I should take care of what little I have left.

What was it the old guy Bob Hope said? Thanks for the memories? How about to the person who started this thread "thanks for reviving the memories".

PS I have a 72 Kawasaki down in the storage building that I can fire up anytime I need an adrenalin rush. Fortunately it has a 3in extended swing arm and will not wheelie at 100MPH like my original crotch rocket in 1972.

I can't always say "Been There, Done That" but I have done some of that, and some other stuff too. I am happy to still be walking around and still alive, and I am not done yet. What's happening this weekend?
