When we can make up our minds to get passed race and deal with one another as people, we might make progress.

Good luck with that.

We put a black man in the White House. In my mind racism is basically in the history books now, at least in a major way. I'm pretty sure this means that WE have got past it. It's the freeloaders that haven't.

I referred to "Her 1950-60's Southern upbringing ". No joke here. What's the problem?

I've tried to explain to people she was basically fired for being Georgian. My father understands, but most of my friends my age or younger don't. It's not excusing her actions necessarily, but it's entirely a different culture than most people can understand.

Is some of it regrettable and despicable? Sure. But it is was it is.

We watch a lot of the cooking network. She is just a little. "To southern" for my tastes.

She just about has an orgasm about sweet potato fries, over, and over....,.,

The first controversy, some chick suing her because she said something to other people that this chick was witness to, was b.s.. Nothing more than an ex-employee trying to get some of someone else's cake. Now Paula Deen would have been ok with the race issue but the third issue sealed her fate.

The racial comments were obviously wrong and she apologized. Everyone acted like her admitting to using the N-word was like flipping her hair and showing a 666 mark. She grew up in the deep south in a time where that word was used with no more thought than saying hello. I'm not saying it was right but it was part of that era and you can't crucify someone for that. I've lived in those areas and racism is worn like a badge of honor for many people there and Paula Deen doesn't seem like those people to me but who knows except those who really know her. What sealed PD's fate was the third video that she actually used as an intro to when she did her traveling "show". I saw the highlights and even as a PD fan I was shocked. It had nothing to do with the whole race issue, the controversy was due to the raunchy nature of the video. As I said, I've always been a PD fan and not someone easily offended by naughtiness but, dayum....I can't believe she WANTED this video seen. She had to know if it ever went public her sponsors and such would bail out so fast they'd leave vapor trails, which is exactly what happened. She has to date lost her spot on Food Network, her product sales at every major distributor, her partnership with Smithfield and basically every single income source except her restaurant. That effectively ruins her financially and ends her career. I don't see her making any kind of comeback so that's all folks. She may have been put on the cross wrongly but she provided the nails herself.
