Vendors haven't learned that the gouging days are over and don't know how to adjust to normal pricing. Too many are trying to pay the mortgage off one person. Many of the quality vendors that I used to know from out of state have stopped coming.
They have to gouge when tables are $165 each and most 6 footers at that. you got to sell a lot at 10-20% markup to pay for tables, motel, help, gas etc. so the prices go up.

What do you think prices will be like one day when.
1. Most local dealers have gone belly up.
2. Gun shows have all but disappeared.
3. Some clown in the white house outlaws mail order sales.

Ammo $100 a round?
Powder $1000 a pound?

Could careless if number 2 happens. Once number 3 happens, number 1 won't be an issue either. There will always be local dealers. The ones that survive will be the FBT type shops that charge a fair price and don't drown themselves with debt and have to charge outrageous prices.

This pretty much summed up the experience.

The big show will be dead until the next big scare or manufacturers shutter machines and lay off employees. There were a lot of dealers & manufacturers dumping inventory at cost or less and even at that people weren't spending money. Along with many others, FBT will not be at the spring show, the expense and effort cannot be justified.

My first time ever to attend the Big Show. Worked yesterday, so only had today to look, too much stuff to see in too little time, but I had a good time. Not often you can see a Beisen Mauser, or a Maurice Ottmar Mauser, or one by Duane Weibe at the same show. Many, many others--including a custom Winchester 52 sporter--that caught my eye, and I thoroughly enjoyed the eye candy. I did come home with a decent wood stock for a '98 Mauser, and I will go back, hopefully with a bit more money in hand. All in all, I thought it was a fine show.

Your table looked really busy when I walked by.

I could certainly believe that. When I needed an ALG Defense QMS trigger, I just went on over there and FBT was the same price I could buy it online. When reputable shops have what we need at good pricing, I can't justify going to the shows or listening to folks like Rijas anymore. If it's new, I'll go to FBT or 2A and avoid the cover charge every time.

I guess there's always the old collectors stuff but that doesn't do it for me at all.
