As the son of a Marine, I have to question only one assertion in that article. The US Marine Corps predates the United States itself, having been formed on November 10th, 1775, so his referring to the Marines as "newly created" in 1801 is inaccurate. Otherwise, an eye-opening article.
I noticed that, too; I guess 26 years is "newly created" in relation to the current age of the Corps, but I don't think it's a particularly accurate description. He's also mistaking cause for effect on the origin of "Leatherneck"--the Marines wore the leather stocks because they were part of the uniform (the British Marines also wore leather stocks at the time, as did enlisted men in the British Army); the protection against swords was a side benefit.

Same has been said of Judaism and Christianity in the annals of history. Be very careful who you allow to shape and condition your thoughts with the information they provide. And ask, "who benefits?" There are many canards and distractions for those who have eyes but don't see.
I have put in many hours of study on the subject. I say again it is Islam

Your opinion is noted. My opinion is that it religion.

I can and do agree the root of a lot of problem has a background tainted by various religions on and off over the years, but Islam in particular seems to be a little different and consistent for a long period of time over the years.

I have various friends of several religions that feel bad for me because most of them think I am going to hell when I die someday. It seem there is a portion of the Islam religion that thinks it is their duty to send me there immediately. To me that is a little different.

As you point out, it's only a portion who want to send you on to your next life. I'm sure that there are small portions of Jews, Christians and Muslims who would like to send a non-religious person such as myself to hades. Yet I don't take the position of claiming universally that it is all followers of those sects that wish ill upon me. There will always be a few who give the majority a bad name.

I wrote a blog entry regarding some differences between Islam and Christianity. From what I've learned from both Quranic and Bible scholars, both of those books "evolved." When Mohammed wrote the Quran, his early writings were of peaceful beliefs and actions, but as he got further into writing it, the beliefs and actions became much more violent. On the contrary, the Bible started out with such teachings as "an eye for an eye" in the Old Testament, but after the coming of Jesus Christ and the writing of the New Testament, it evolved to more peaceful teachings such as "turn the other cheek."

Where the real difference comes along is that many of the "modern" Muslim clerics teach that the later writing of the Quran are those that "must be followed." The Bible also speaks of living by the later writings (the New Testament), so "modern" true believers will also be more peaceful.

Up to a point.

Those books were written, and edited by men over many century's. Hence the King James version, and the other. Nobody can say there is any correct interpretation of the bible or the Koran. They are all interpretations.
