Blue Ray disk rant..

They are pushing Blue Ray as the next big thing but just discovered it's a compatibility mess that will end up killing it. I have a Samsung player BD-EM53 and just discovered it won't play the 3 Paramount disks I just received from Amazon. I did a firmware update but didn't help. I'm done buying Blue Ray disks, if I can't get it on a DVD I won't buy it.

I really hope this mess costs Blue Ray manufactures and movie studios allot of lost sales and Blue Ray ends up being the new Beta Max. No excuse for a 3 year old player that works perfectly to be obsoleted because the movie studio is dicking with the standard.

And 3 years after that you will need to buy another player because that format will become obsolete. Go ahead spend your money to support the madness, I choose not to.

HD-DVD was the BetaMax of this war.

That said, I bought my Sony BDP-S350 player nearly 7 years ago on or very close to release date. I still don't have a problem playing discs, and I haven't even had it connected to the network for firmware updates in 5 years. I count it as another reason to buy flagship items and not cheap out when it comes to electronics.
