From what I'm told, OBI stays in the state to help folks here, donating to Red Cross goes to their national blood bank, for lack of better wording, just what I've been told by some folks I know in the FD

Just curious; why not?

I won't do it because it doesn't always stay local. It was only after a large social media campaign and lots of teeth pulling that the funds raised by the Red Cross under the auspices of tornado relief following the last big tornado in Moore were set aside for strictly Moore tornado relief.

Often they get beaucoup bucks and dole out just a fraction and they are not responsible with their administrative or logistic costs. Money is better served going to a local organization.

OBI. Regular donor ... have been for years. Red Cross has never had blood drives in Enid. As mentioned, donations to OBI stay in the state. I think I'm at 11+ gallons so far.

OBI is not a charity. The blood you give them they sell in the marketplace and they pocket the profits.
