Buy a large farm here in Oklahoma, farm until money ran out.

Kind of sad, but true more times that not.

Don't worry, we're safe. The only time those people (e.g., Californians) move to Oklahoma is when they're forced to due to a job transfer. They never even think about all of us in the "flyover" states, as they call every state between New York and California, any other time. Hope it stays that way.

Yeah I don't see any reverse Grapes of Wrath happening anytime soon.

This is exactly what I would want to do. I wouldn't need it want a huge house, but give me acres upon acres of land that I could shoot as much as I want to (preferably somewhere that actually gets all 4 seasons) and I think I could be happy. Especially if I had a nice size garage so I could spend time learning to work on cats.

Sounds like a good plan, but those poor "cats"

Honestly, I've lived on such a tight budget my entire life, I have no idea what to do with that kind of money. Other than cars and guns, I've never even shopped expensive stuff.

I'd want land, but the kind that you don't do anything with - ie, hunting meadow/woods. I have no desire to own/run a farm or ranch.

I want land enough to shoot out to 4-500 yds, a nice pistol/action range, and a couple nice shops.

I agree with this for the most part but I would have my own beef and buffalo so I can assure they are grass fed only, also some ducks and chickens not big farm but a personal farm would be fine.

I don't know that I've ever paid enough attention to the flavor difference between grass fed and grain fed beef to form an opinion. This calls for scientific research on my part. There HAS to be a side to side comparison now.

I already live part time in OK, CA and CO. I would prolly not change anything permanent residential status but I would for sure add a few more part time places to chill at like NYC where I work some times, and also maybe somewhere colder too like Montreal or Vancouver. I'm not a fan of hot sunny places. Eastern Europe would be kind of cool too, maybe Norway or Sweden.

I think I'd buy a ton of land (enough to ensure that no houses were built near me) and put a house right in the middle of it.

About 9 square miles ought to do it. I could live on the central square mile and use the 8 surrounding square miles for hunting and as a buffer from society. There would be room for a private airport, a race track, looooooooooooooooong shooting range, a nice swimming hole, and no hassles from a HOA.

All's I know is, when I lived in Ireland, I couldn't stand the flavor of any of the meat. Even steaks, even bacon (rashers there) had some kind of strange "off" taste. When I got back Stateside, everything was fine again. I was told that it was because in Ireland it was all grass-fed livestock, and they didn't grain-feed them for 30, 60 or 90 days before slaughtering. At the time, I didn't even know this was a thing. And honestly, I've never researched it, nor done an A/B comparison.

Anyone else can speak about this intelligently? I'm sure plenty here have had their own livestock slaughtered and processed, no?
