At 270hp/310ft-lbs, it's not exactly underpowered, especially with that 10-speed transmission behind it. It's also not inexpensive.
I could've gotten into a lot of trouble in one of those...
My oldest son had one of the early first series of the Ford Ranger. He was of the common misconception at 16 yrs old that pickups can go anywhere even though he grew up with me in a 4wd digging out of getting stuck at the farm. Spent several nights getting him unstuck in his off-road dreams.
He’s fixed that now at 48 with a monster Jeep that he takes to mud run events. He doesn’t get stuck now.
I took my 97 ranger offroad all the time, but never in mud or deep snow. But it got me back and forth to the pond all the time.
pure skills I must say that this post is really nice to keep it up.

Lol. My son is in this mode as we speak. He thinks he knows it all and I’m and idiot. Ah the joy of teenagers. But I am glad to have him. Even with all the issues he has caused. I love him to death.
Hmmmm... well, my son is doing ok. Sophomore now. Have to ride him to keep up with his work, but he's still a good kid. Hasn't decided (openly anyways) that we're complete morons.
