Hopefully Grinch can recruit players that fit his defensive scheme and then they can actually execute it . . . it's been pretty obvious that the secondary hasn't been that great or very deep all season long.

At least y'all aren't crying referee favoritism like everyone on my social media feed.
Man, I hate that... and Sooner fans are some of the worst. I've said before, the only thing worse than complaining about the refs after a loss is complaining about the refs after a win. It's a constant theme on a Sooner message board I read, you'd think if the refs cheated against us as much as some seem to think, it's unbelievable that we could win 12 games a year.

I don't know about favoritism, but there certainly was a missed pass interference call against LSU in the first quarter.
And I have no dog in this fight.
They missed that one, but they were letting a lot of stuff go. OU could have been called for some stuff that wasn't, too.

And not much talk about Bookie's targeting penalty from the same people who still complain about a Baylor player elbowing Trevor Knight five years ago.

DANG IT!! You guys got me stirred up.... LOL!

The officiating was pretty bad, but it really didn't make any difference, so there's no reason to dwell on it. What killed us was mistakes and losing key players to injury, suspension, and stupidity; it was going to be a tough game without that, but LSU is too good to give them that much advantage.

Interesting that people complain about the refs. Bad and no calls for sure in our game.....but I'd be screaming if I was Ohio State and I can't stand Ohio State. All I have on my social media feed is a bunch of Pokes that are all of the sudden LSU fans. Got tumbleweeds when they lost to a mediocre A&M.

OU got embarrassed, for sure. Yes, we were overmatched, we were missing a number of very key players, but LSU's defensive line owned the game from the first series. There's no getting away from that. Had we been full strength AND executed well, I think we could have had a chance - but that's all speculation. OU has been consistently in the top of the running for years, and everyone who isn't, or who gets knocked out in the last week or two always grumbles and complains. Georgia, Bama, Utah and others are perfect examples. It is the nature of the game... over 100 other universities in Division 1 football would give their left nut or more to be in OU's position of being near the top of the ranking perennially. OSU would kill to be given the opportunity to play in the CFP year after year. So would TX, so would A&M, so would anyone. Hell, OU got beat like a drum, yes, but they've played their way into the playoffs every time - not a damn thing was 'handed' to them.

I turned off the OSU/Clemson game halfway through, looking like Clemson was going to get dominated, but they made a comeback, apparently. I was actually impressed with the sportsmanship of Tevor Lawrence, that kid is humble and I saw him patting opposing players on the back AS THEY TACKLED HIM. It was awesome to see. I loved it, so I am happy for them. I didn't think Clemson had a chance, they hadn't been tested, hadn't played a real team all year - but after watching Ohio State play a couple of games, then watching them roll over Clemson initially, reading the story of how they came back, I'm impressed. I still think LSU is a threshing machine that is going to be hard to overcome, but it could be a helluva good game. I didn't care initially, but I think I'm actually going to watch it. It's bound to be entertaining.

This is pretty much my take too.

I'd add this tho...

LSU beat Texas but they had to work for it. It was no shellacking like they gave OU last night. Now fast forward to last night and LSU was largely healthy and had basically another full season of experience under their belt. So it just stands to reason that they would be better than when they played Texas. But remember what OU did to Texas. They sacked the QB NINE times and dominated them on both sides of the ball. If we would have been able to field that same roster last night I'd give the nod to OU winning or at least think it would be a dogfight of a game like OSU-Clemson was. We were down 6 defensive players not suiting up and another key player stupidly got himself ejected pretty early on. The roster being what it was, I privately gave OU no shot at winning. None. ZERO. However I didn't know it would be as bad as it was, especially with Jalen not playing badly, he actually had a decent game if you look at his numbers. CeeDee and a couple of others too.

It's pretty clear that all the talk of how deep teams' bench are that we hear is straight up bullchit. Another example of this is the RB for OSU last night injured his ankle before halftime. He came back out and couldn't really play and had to go tape it and work it even more then he came back anyway to play the rest of the game hobbled somewhat. His backup wasn't thought to be as good as even a maimed starter or that wouldn't have happened. LSU's good RB only played a few plays because of injury in practice but as it turns out, he wasn't really needed so sitting him made sense to save him for the next game.

If I were Riley I'd do 3 things.

1) Look real hard at injuries and how to prevent them. We lost several good players in practice this year. I'd evaluate the hell out of that.

2) I'd make it team policy that if you fail a drug test, you were gone. Period. Scholarship revoked kind of gone.

3) I'd also do the same thing for a targeting call with a twist. I'd have an internal team review board look at it and if it wasn't obviously incidental/accidental they would sit the rest of the season. If it's in the 2nd half of the season, they miss the 1st half of the next season too.
