Hi folks,

Hope y'all had a better Sunday than I did... :lookaroun

Tripped and fell inside the house yesterday afternoon and landed hard on my right shoulder (laminate flooring on a slab). Dislocated the goofy thing.

Terrible pain and agony, couldn't get it to ease up at all and kept getting queasy. A friend took me to the hospital yesterday evening, and after about a 3 hour excruciating wait (including x-rays), a Doc finally started on me.

I was very fortunate, because this guy really knew what he was doing. They gave be a couple syringes of painkiller directly into a vein, and (with a couple nurses holding my shoulder area) it literally took him about 3 seconds (if that long?) to pop it back in, which gave me immediate relief. It still hurt of course (and still does), but at least it's bearable, and I can actually get it positions that don't hurt at all.

But my fun wasn't over... The meds made me get carsick, and I puked 4 times on the way home. Something I rarely do (it had literally been years before then).

Anywho... the Doc gave me strict instructions to not lift my arm straight up for at least 24 hours. Wasted advice, 'cause I'm not sure I could (yet?) lift it above my head if my shirt was on fire. :D

I know some of y'all have had this wonderful experience before. How long does it take for the soreness to go away? It's only marginally functional at this point.

Thanks. :drunk2:

I've also found that I don't 'bounce' as well as when I was young. Hope you have a speedy recovery!!

I went to H&H this morning. First shots fired since the first week of June. I developed a bad “stress fracture” in my leg and have not been able to do much on my own. It was nice to be out, by myself. After I left, I just drove around awhile.

Here, but occasionally There.
Not a lot of news out of Alabama, but the wife and I did finish up the "initial" surveying of the assigned roads in the state. Now, we are working about 900 miles of the roads we did before that had something wrong with them. It gets a bit frustrating at times when it is equipment that creates a failure. Other issues could be blamed on operator error.

However, based on what they are making us "redo" some of the records, it is likely that the wife and I won't do this job again next year....

....unless they can promise us that we could work Wyoming again. That one we might would do, but probably not on any of the other states where we have done some of this work.

At any rate, we hope to be back in Oklahoma in 2 to 4 weeks. It largely depends on weather, and while we have quite a few "redo's" to do in the Mobile/ Gulf Shores area, that is the area that also will have the most rain delays. (If that happens, I might just take a day and go to Battleship Park in Mobile. (USS Alabama and USS Drum)

Awesome museum if you have never been, you get to crawl through most of the ship.

Oh man, I am sorry you fell and dislocated your shoulder.
I have been through that as well. I did it in a dance routine many years ago. I was lucky enough to have a medical person there backstage that knew exactly what to do. She put me up against a brick wall and told me to turn my head. Then she used all of her weight and slammed my shoulder back into place. It hurt lick the dickens but like you, I had immediate relief afterwards. It was sore for about a week afterwards.
