Once my AR and Glock went completely underwater in a creek minutes before the 500 yard stage too. Both are generic, soul-less platforms, but both ran like champs afterwards!
They used the same test for witches back in the day. If they held them under water and they still lived, they were evil and were killed

AKguy1985 has a nice Mini 14 but it has the plastic stock which I could replace as soon as the wife was not paying attention, but it only has one mag with it. Plus he is so far away. I would have to find someone going there and back willing to make the trade for me, then scrounge up enough to buy some mags and ammo.

One note for those with a Mini 14, I hear the new Pro Mags work well if you make sure the rounds are all the way back in the mag. They old run about $15 too. The old 303s if using a stripper clip had to have the rounds seated properly too.
One thing I don’t recommend is plastic mags for a min14. They way they rock in like an AK, that is a weak point unless there is a metal reinforcement. The hole will wallow out, crack or break.

At one time I was going to build a 6.8 SPC for hogs and deer but I lost my hunting grounds so I never did.

ETA: Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a Mini 14 if they were AR accurate, took AR magazines, and were AR priced.
25ish years ago that was part of the attraction of a mini14. They were cheeper than an AR15. ARs were like a 1000 dollar gun and minis were like 400-500.

One thing I do think Ruger should have done is make the Mini 14 use AR mags but I understand why they never did with the way Democrats are.

I'd rock this if the tupperware stuff is an issue. Still has most of the classic lines.
