Dr. Jeffery Shaver in Edmond was recommended to me by my eye doctor. He said he has examined people that Dr. Shaver did the surgery on, and my doctor said he couldn't tell that they had the surgery. I going to have to have the surgery soon also.

I had cataract surgery in 2014. Due to a tissue issue, I had to have the new lenses sutured to the eyeball. I have quite a stigmatism in both eyes. On the second eye surgery, the doctor was able to rotate the new lense a bit and pretty much negated the stigmatism in that eye. (Not sure why he did not do that in the first eye)
After the surgeries and for several years I had GREAT vision and could do most things without glasses if needed. In the last couple years I have become very dependent on my glasses.
The only issues I experienced was bubbles in between the lenses and eyeball that are apparently normal. I had a total of three in office laser treatments over 5 years to remove the bubbles that kept coming back.
I may look into lasick surgery next year to try and improve things again and correct my stigmatism in the other eye.
Unfortunately, I do not remember the lense type installed.

First eye was done by a surgeon in Texarkana. They did not give me enough relax juice, nor did they get my eye deadened. When she was done I told her she would never see me again. Second eye was done by Dr Kroft in Durant. They put me sound asleep, don’t remember a thing. I opted for distance vision lenses, so I still use glasses. Vision is 20/25 without glasses, 20/20 with.

I went the cheapest route, I've worn glasses most of my life so continuing to wear glasses wasn't worth the added cost. Twice in my life I believe that wearing glasses has kept me from serious eye injuries, so there is that. A friend went the more expensive route and is very happy with the result, he only has to wear readers. My first eye was noticeably improved in 24 hours after surgery, the second eye took about 5 days to catch up with the first one.

Wearing the eye shield to bed at night, not letting water get into the eyes, and not rubbing the eyes are really the only problems and they are temporary. Lots of eye drops.

Here, but occasionally There.
Had my cataract surgery done at the Southwest Eye Clinic by Dr. David Mallory. (Yes, his name is a link to his history.)

I had mine done around May of 2013 as my regular optometrist told me that the best he could do to correct my vision would be 20/25 with glasses. He also stated that within a year, I would NEED the cataract surgery. Prior to the surgery, my vision without glasses was 20/400.

As with others, I can't remember the names of the lenses, but the one in my right eye is "close-focus" because of an astigmatism, and the other eye has a lens for long distance. I only need reading glasses, although I do have two pairs of glasses, one for night driving so that I can read street signs and the other is for shooting.

I've been pretty happy with my lenses and haven't had any problems. The anesthesiologist that worked with Dr. Mallory was great. I felt like I was "swaddled" during the surgeries. With the first surgery (right eye), I went in as a nervous wreck because of my concern for my vision for my photography. The first one went so well, that during the second surgery for the left eye, they stopped mid procedure and the nurse told me that I REALLY needed to take a deep breath. Apparently, I was so relaxed that I was breathing shallow and they weren't sure about me.

Who's had cataract surgery? What replacement type lens did you get? Did you like the results? Any recommendations?
I'm about to go down this road....
Everything went well with me and my wife. Both of us still have to wear glasses though in reduced power. Depends on what the Optometrist says whether you have to or not.

Tecnis lens were what my opthamologist recommended. I was very nearsighted and now have 20-20
vision and don't have to wear glasses. It helps to have reading glasses though for easier reading small print.
I used a local doctor for my implants. Dr. Parker here in Claremore. I wish I had done it years earlier but
was afraid of eye surgery! Before surgery you have to take lots of eye drops and they only do one eye at a time. If I remember right about two weeks apart. I'm glad I had it done.
