We have an old windmill from the 30’s that still turns although the wood break shaft I think they call it is broken.you can build a stand alone system that makes all the power you need and then you don't need the utility company any more. but you need a battery to store the excess power to smooth things out. now with the electric cars i understand that thebattery might be more affordable than it used to be
Been thinking about a way to use that windmill to run a generator that would power a 12v pump so I could irrigate my food plot for deer and run what wasn’t needed there to the pond to keep it topped off. It’s down about 4’ with this drought.
May have to go solar and battery though.
