OK, I am reading a great shtf book called Lights Out. it was wrote by a forum member on another board and I consider it to be as good as patriots. the subjects live in texas and in the book a firearms dealer is able to sell a guy guns that his his ccw without calling into whomever they have to call into to. Is this something made up for the book or is this info legit? if it is true, it doesn't apply in OK correct?

does not apply here. Not the first time I have heard of it. I believe a couple states do that.

That is true. I am from Texas and if you have a Texas ccw then they forego the NICS check. I have a Utah ccw and If I lived in Texas with it I would still have to be cleared by NICS I think. But no Oklahoma for some reason will not Take a ccw as proof you are good to go and you must go thru the NICS check.
You can get a form from the NICS people to fill out and return to them and they will issue you a Unique ID # And that is supposed to speed up the process if you ever get delayed on transactions.

Several years ago it was true here in Oklahoma. I bought a few guns back then where I only had to show my ccw card. Then they changed the law and now we have to get the background check.

It makes sense to check backgrounds. Things can change between the time the CCW was issued and today. Look at all the fools that like to speed and break the law. Anyone one of them could have caused a fatal car wreck and been charged/convicted of a felony crime. Just cause you were golden when your got your CCW doesn't mean you will be 6 months later.

you wouldn't have your CCW anymore if you had a felony. I am pretty sure they would yank your card, or ask you to turn it in.

IIRC, the qualification for the CCW to serve in lieu of a NICS check is whether or not the state bureau of investigation performs a background check on you annually, instead of just at the time of application.
