I was in the same situation when I moved to OK (minus the run-in), and I was told up and down the chain in Oklahoma that "if you have an Oklahoma address, you must have an Oklahoma permit". OK will honor the out of state permit if you have the out of state address, an in-state permit if you have an in-state address, but not mix cases.

Thanks to all for the input. For the record: I AM going to get my OK CCL. I am well-aware that the issue would not have even come up had I done that already. I was trying to get information on whether or not this LEO was enforcing the law correctly. He was not.

I'm sure that he could have handled things differently if he truly believed that he was in the right. And also a ride 'down to the station' would have ruined my Easter weekend. But, me being arrested for this would not have ended nicely for the taxpayers of Tulsa Co. He ought to be made aware of his misunderstanding just in case he tries to enforce his 'law' on someone and ends up getting the county sued.

What about all the people with the Utah out of state license? Surely those classes wouldn't be nearly as popular if it didn't allow you to carry in OK.

I think it stays on your record in so much that it will show up on OSCN.net. So for example, if you get a DUI and get a deferred and successfully complete the terms, I think it still will show up you have been arrested. Since I don't do criminal cases, I am not 100% sure.

Not exactly. If you get a deferred the charges will be retroactively dismissed upon completion of your deferred period. Like a fresh start program. This applies to most charges. This is the carrot at the end of your hard sentence such as in a Problem Solving Court. (like Drug Court) No longer on OSCN thereafter.

Also, the arrest does not show up on OSCN but will show up on several other sources as an arrest or a contact with LE.

I think this is the case. So the LEO was right. If you have an OK address you need OK permit. If you had an out of state address then your permit would be fine.

the new utah law says you have to have a carry license from your state of residence to get one from utah now.
kind of worthless.
