From what I heard, Lynn Hickey had the philosophy that he could be successful so long as he sold one car to everyone in OKC. I don't think he had any hope of selling more than one to any one person.

I also heard that when negotiating with possible buyers, some salesmen would throw the keys to the customer's trade-in up onto the roof of the building.

I remember when he was investigated by the Feds for accepting over 10k in cash in a sting and didn’t report it.

I don't recall if he was personally involved, but I remember when they busted a drug ring that was operating out of his store. Seems like it was after he moved to MWC.

That... would be the first and last mistake the salesguy made. All negotiations would cease and he would be getting his butt up on the roof retrieving my keys so I could leave.

I have heard of those stories, but I haven't ever heard them confirmed. I did know a couple of guys who said they had a hard time getting their car keys back from Lynn Hickey salesmen. One didn't get his keys back until he grabbed the phone and asked the operator for the OKCPD phone number.

Many years ago, 70's-80's even, when I was at Camp Pendleton there was a guy in the LA Area that had the craziest car commercials ever with a jingle about "Go see Cal" and he would talk about his "dog" Spot...anyway Spot wasn't a dog, Spot was always some other kind of animal. Sometimes Cal, who wore a big cowboy hat, would come out with, or maybe be riding on, a hippo, an alligator, a Brahma bull, an elephant, or some other large wild beast and they would play that stupid jingle... "If you wanna buy a car, go see Cal; if you wanna make a deal, go see Cal..." He'd have free hotdogs and crap to lure people in, and of course, lots of people would go there to see the crazy guy with a rhinoceros on a leash...and maybe buy a car.
