one thing that works very well is i put my cast iron skillet inside my gas grill and cook it that way... gets hot more evenly and quicker.. also, how many people use a meat thermometer? I have trouble with burgers either under/over cooking....

before you go collar try one thing first. Take vinegar and mix it 50% with water (or more if you need to) put in a spray bottle and whenever they bark, grab their nose and spray them right on their nose, it doesn't hurt them but they don't like it. It works very well... try that out first..
