I've been thinking for a while now on what new .22LR I ought to get.
I already have a Ruger MK2 but she's getting a bit lonely being my only .22LR.
I've been thinking about either a Browning Buckmark, the Beretta Neos, or get a CZ 85 and get the CZ kadet kit.
The Neos might look odd but to me it's pretty slick looking, kinda like something you'd see off Star Trek! :P
The only problem I've heard with the Buckmarks is that they're pretty finicky with the type of ammo you use in it and me and my dad usually get like either Remington, Blazer, and CCI.
If there's any other nice .22's out there, let me know!
I don't really know any .22LR revolvers besides the Ruger SP101.

holy moly, just get to the range and rent some guns. Don't bring all your questions here as I do not have the time nor the inclination to answer questions for you less than B class shooters. How dare you ask a question on my forum of 14 active elite members!

Oh, crap! Sorry forgot which site I was on :drunk5: :laugh6: nevermind. I couldn't really tell you as I have only played with a few but I have enjoyed the high standard I have gotten to play with and really am fascinated by the neos.

For a rifle, I would say you should get a Ruger 10/22, in any of the number of setups. Lots of parts and addons for them. Also this is 50th anniversary 1964-2014. They are real easy to learn basic gunsmithing and do upgrades yourself.

I own a pair of Ruger 22/45 pistols,,,
I also own a CZ-75B Kadet in .22 LR,,,
I also own a trio of Beretta NEOS pistols.

The Ruger fanatics don't believe me,,,
But the NEOS pistols are just as accurate and reliable as my Rugers.

I keep 4.5" barrels on two of them and a 6" in the case,,,
The third pistol frame is near permanently mounted on the carbine kit.

They eat any ammo I put through them,,,
They do not have that annoying magazine disconnect,,,
So as a bug-out-bag or SHTF gun they are actually better,,,
Because they can be a single shot pistol if your magazine breaks.

Taking them apart for a deep cleaning is a breeze,,,
Swapping barrels out takes about 60 seconds,,,
EWK Arms makes a great fiber optic sight.

Right now you can get a Beretta NEOS in 4.5" or 6" at Buds for $248.00,,,
I believe that makes it the least expensive of the quality pistols.

They aren't the be-all and end-all of 22 pistols,,,
But for the money they are very difficult to beat.

There are a lot of Rimfire Steel Challenge shooters that swear by them.

Smith and Wesson 617 is a great 22 revolver, it is a little heavy but will eat any ammo you put in it. I have a six inch ten shot and I love it!

About those Beretta NEOS pistols,,,

I had to cut my previous treatise on the NEOS short,,,
My Danged employer actually wanted me to do some work.

As you probably noticed,,,
I'm a NEOS Fan-Boy.

While there are several great pistols out there,,,
The NEOS is definitely one of them.

One thing though,,,
You will pay much more for a quality DA/SA revolver than for most Semi-Auto pistols.

S&W Model 17 is the top of the line rimfire revolver out there,,,
But Smith & Wesson is also very proud of that gun,,,
New you will pay way North of $700.00,,,
4" or 6" barrel versions are available.

You will pay almost as much for a used one as for a new one.

Next down is the Ruger SP-101,,,
It's also a very fine revolver from a fine company,,,
$500.00 to $575.00 seems to be the going rate for a new specimen.

Then there are several "second-shelf" revolvers.

Charter Arms Target Pathfinder is a smaller framed revolver,,,
Comparable to a J-Frame S&W it goes for around $325.00 to $375.00,,,
I own one that I bought on a whim and I'll say it's a decent enough gun for the money.

Rossi is marketing their R-98 is a 6" or 4" version,,,
I've never seen or held one of these $400.00 guns in my hand,,,
But they are getting favorable reviews from what I read on the Inter-Web.

Taurus Model 94,,,
You pays your money and takes your chances.

Taurus only makes two kinds of guns,,,
Good from the factory and then they perform and last very well,,,
Bad from the factory (all to common these days) and you have a dog that will never run right.

Hope this helps,,,

Ok, I was about to be like "What on Earth is he talking about.....?". :P The Neos sounds like a really good .22.
