Back in the early-mid '70s, I bought a lot of FMJ Federal .22LR for 77¢ per box of 50 (regular price), and a few Remington for 59¢ (on sale). Never was a big fan of Remington ammo.

Now where did I put the keys to that time machine...

I bet that was for a box of 50 not 100. But still a good price for today.

I remember buying lots of 22s for less that a buck a box. It was cheaper than bubble gum. I really miss the days when Academy had CCI Blazer 9mm for $3.86 a box. That was when I really started shooting nines a lot.

I'm almost 70 and the cheapest I remember ammo was 50-cents for a 50 round box of .22 shorts.

Ol' Doc, who owned the gas station/convenience store near my house,,,
Would always sell us kids 2 rounds for 3 pennies,,,
Or two rounds per soda bottle deposit.

Walking the mile to his store,,,
We could always find a few Coke bottles in the bar ditches.

I remember when Federal 550 rd boxes of 36gr plated hollow-points were $8.86 at Walmart. Shot a boat load of those.
