I remember buying lots of 22s for less that a buck a box. It was cheaper than bubble gum. I really miss the days when Academy had CCI Blazer 9mm for $3.86 a box. That was when I really started shooting nines a lot.

I'm almost 70 and the cheapest I remember ammo was 50-cents for a 50 round box of .22 shorts.

Ol' Doc, who owned the gas station/convenience store near my house,,,
Would always sell us kids 2 rounds for 3 pennies,,,
Or two rounds per soda bottle deposit.

Walking the mile to his store,,,
We could always find a few Coke bottles in the bar ditches.
