very easy!

there has been NONE... ZERO ... NADA ... not one documented instance of pot directly causing a death.

you would think out the the billions of users in the history of pot use... if Pot was dangerous ... ONE document instance would show up.

don't get me wrong ... Pot is dope and will get you high .. why do you think they call it dope? but the worst documented side effect so far is the munchies.

by the way not a pot user... it's a documented fact pot users will quit on their own about age 35.

I have some ocean front property in AZ if you are interested.

Note: The reason they got the harsh sentances, was commission of crime infront of chilldren(and in some ways invloveing them in selling drugs). What would we all say if they had been jacked of money in a armed crime by a less than nice customer.

Thus not just a corner dealer with a dime bag, but ladies bringing customers into their home with their children there. Thus the choice of doing crime has reprocussions. If there is a law against it, its illegal, no matter what we feel about the actual infraction.

Have you or anyone you know gotten a ticket for driving even 1mph above the speed limit with kids in the vehicle? If so, that speeder should receive the same sentence based on that logic. What if someone else crossed the median, they hit head on, the kids get killed, and it could have been prevented by not speeding?

How can you say weed has caused no deaths?

Shear lack of statistical attribution.

Im sure no one has ever had a fatal car accident under the influence of pot. Or some pothead has never robbed a house while high and gotten shot.

Happens much more often on alcohol. Why punish the masses for the actions of a few?

Or nobody has ever incurred a debt with a drug dealer that got them hurt or killed.

Much of that can be directly attributed to the black market dynamics caused, influenced, and encouraged by the Drug War.

Or some mother has never neglected their children and had them die while high.

Once again, see alcohol.

Im not anti legalization of weed necessarily, but to act like it is pure as the wind driven snow is erroneous. It is still a drug and will cause problems like all drugs.

You lump users and abusers into the same group. There is a huge difference between the two. That's like lumping the guy who has a beer or two each day after work in with the guy who has a fifth of tequila all day every day.

Or do you believe that alcohol should be illegal? After all, it is a drug.

This begs the question. If she had been selling heroin instead of pot, would your opinion be any different?

She wasn't.

We can what if it to death, she got a sentence 3 to 4 times as long as a violent criminal that seems wrong to me.

It is telling people if you are going to commit a crime be dame sure you hurt somebody so ya don't have to go to jail.

absolutely it would... the same if she was dealing bricks of Pot with several prior arrests.

it's insane some of the attitude equating pot with heroin. Can we say brainwashed by the war on drugs????

one is benign with billions of folks doing it harmlessly vs the millions doing heroin with a guarantee to destroy everything around them.

This begs the question. If she had been selling heroin instead of pot, would your opinion be any different?

very well... show me ONE document instance of Pot directly causing a death.

didn't think so...

you'd think out of the billions and billions of folks that's used Pot...something over hundreds of years would have showed up.

I have some ocean front property in AZ if you are interested.

easy.. the World Heath Organization did the research... naturally because it was politically incorrect... that data was suppressed, but it's still out there. google it

apologies for side tracking ... didnot mean to turn this thread into if Pot should be legal. the hard cold facts are Pot is illegal and there are consequences. but the punishment should fit the crime!!!

which is the point of this thread.... 10years for selling 2-3 joints of Pot with no prior... come on ... that's insane!!

again... this brings up the competence and/or corruption question for the DA and Judge involved.

I'd love to see the documentation on this claim.....

An absolute travesty. How can this judge live with himself? Selling a little weed is nothing. She did it in front of her kids, which is much worse, but not worthy of jail time, especially with no priors. this is just sad. It just goes to show you that they can and will nail you to the wall for anything. Why would you plead guilty to anything? ever? Nolo contendre is the furthest you should go, as you don't admit guilt, only no contest. Their court-appointed lawyer should be strung up for not getting a sentence deal in place before telling his clients to plead guilty. This is absurd.

This begs the question. If she had been selling heroin instead of pot, would your opinion be any different?

No. Why would it be?

I've known some drunks that could give a lot of heroin addicts a run for their money on the pathetic scale. Should the liquor store counter help get 10 years?

I know a guy that ruined a good portion of his life (and nearly died) by inhaling things he bought over the counter at local stores as a teenager. Should the store owners have been sentenced to jail?

What's a good drug and what's a bad drug? What's a drug? When does usefulness outweigh danger? Gasoline will get you high, and it can kill you. Why is it legal to buy and sell?

Criminalizing drugs doesn't address any of the problems drugs cause.
