Just getting setup for reloading .40 and need a good starting load.
I plan to use Montana Gold 180gr JHP and titegroup. Need a good COL and powder charge for these JHP's. These will be shot out of Glock 22.
I've looked around quite a bit and it seems 1.120 COL and 4.7gr TG might be a good starting point.
Anyone have a pet load they would care to share?

Edit: I had 1.2 when it should of been 1.120

Pretty sure I left the 1 out, should be 1.120.
Edit: You may be right in that I was looking at open recipes. Maybe 1.120 COL and 4.2gr TG might be a good start point.
Guess I should of pulled my manual, 180gr XTP (same profile as MG JHP) 1.125 COL and 4.2gr Titegroup - max 4.7gr.

I don't think 1.2 will fit in a Glock mag. You'll prolly have to stay closer to 1.135 and come down on the charge a bit.

The load you suggested sounds like a lot of 2011 shooters.

I get 175 pf out of my 2011 with 4.3 grs of TG....I have not chronoed with my G22.....i would think that you are going to need to load up about 5 different recipes and then head to the range......every gun likes something a little different.

They do use brass, but it is my understanding that the elemental makeup of the two are very similar. Maybe a metallurgist can chime in. It's also my understanding that Golden Saber's use similar bullets.
I load the same for copper as I do for MG's. Always good idea to chrono to verify.

Can you use the same load data for Montana gold as you would for copper type bullets? I think they use brass for their jackets.
