Anyone have any experience with the DPMS Sportical?

You can download excerpts from a manual off from the net to help guide you through your build. It will show you every part that you need to complete your project, to include torque specs. I would give you more info but I'm currently mobile due to a PCS move. I will be set to provide you witht more info in about a week or so.

i've had 3 DPMS AR's and 3 or 4 complete lowers, i've never had any problems with any of them, i'd rather have the lite 16 than a sportical because you are going to need sights for it right off the bat

I saw the Lite, and I liked it better than the sportical, due to the added features, and basically the same price.

I've been perusing the M&A website since whenever I made that last post. Now I think I'm going to build, or "assemble" from one of their kits. Seems like I can get exactly what I want that way.

In all reality though, the likelihood I change my mind 32 more times is high.

You can often find great prices at Rguns, but if these guys are the ones you decide to deal with, call first and confirm they have what you want in stock. They seem to be a little lazy with updating their site.

If you're curious about building your own, check out Brownell's video section. There may be better, more extensive videos out there, but I haven't found them, nor could I imagine what more they could teach a newbie without creating a "drinking from a firehose" situation. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11004/guntechdetail/How_to_Build_An_AR-15_Video

To answer your question, yes, I have experience with DPMS ARs, but not the Sportical, and only the .308 models. I weighed out the pros and cons between RRA and DPMS and the DPMS 308s seem to be about the best value in affordable .308 ARs. If I were to go .223 or any other caliber, I'm not sure which make and model I would recommend, due to lack of experience.

If you're worried about not having the funds to outright purchase a quality AR, check out http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php, I purchased my Mossberg 590A1 and Colt 1911 through them and they've been great. I recommend them because they offer a layaway program, but then again a lot of shops locally offer layaway, too. Just last week I put another [Broken External Image] on layaway with them, which I went with a basic setup because this will probably be my fun build, most likely a SBR (inspired by 10.5Stang's .308 SBR (beautiful setup)). When I was shopping, they had the best price (I locked in at a price lower than what's now advertised), but their site updates about every 20 minutes, so it could go up or down several times throughout 1 day.

Good luck!

Edit - Oh, and welcome to OSA!

I'm interested in this M4 style, any idea what the Make is on it? I want something with a flat top or a removable carry handle, want to be able to put that scope on there. :P
