Anyone know the best palce to dispose of old UPS Batteries ?

I had to replace the batteries in my UPS and am trying to figure out where to dispose of the old ones. Landfill is out. Any ideas? Thanx

Couple things come to mind.

1. Contact the UPS manufacturer. Sometimes they will send a pickup label to get them back

2. Wait for a "recycle" day.

3. take 'em to a neighbor's yard that you hate and bust them. Then call the EPA and report it.

If you have a Batteries Plus or Office Supply place in town, they may take them.
Otherwise, contact the City and inquire about hazardous disposal.

LOL, these are 30 pound batteries - Maybe Wal Mart or Autozone will take them?
