Just looked at Lowes and it was about $50 a sheet. Just trying to decide about a small project I need to do and whether to put it off for another year and see if the price comes down some.

I've been wanting to build a new 'L' shaped reloading bench. I about fell over when I went to look at lumber prices. Needless to say, I haven't started the project yet.

I don't remember what it was running, but I know it wasn't $50 . . . that's crazy and also why I'm holding off on several projects.

Yeah, as I recall oak plywood was about the same as particle board now. 2x4x8' studs are still $9 which is insane. I thought things were trneding down for a minute, but seems to have stalled or even headed higher again.

It was ~$14ish precovid...even as late as OCT 20 it was $23. I know because I'm looking at receipts I have from then as I write this. I think it was around $10 a sheet in 2018 or so...I'll have to go dig some reciept up and see. I have receipts from SEP and OCT 21 where I bought some for $27 and $33. I priced some about a week ago and it was sitting about $2 lower than the highest covid price but that's not saying much...like $51 still.

I built a 30x60 shop in September of 2020. I started gathering materials earlier in the year. From memory..2x4 studs were $1.99, 4x8x7/16 blandx was 7.99, 60# quickcrete was 2.80 a sack. 5x5x14 treated posts were $25.00. 5 rib white 10' 29ga was 2.29'. My how things have changed.

built a 4'x8' work table like i've done countless times. didn't remember them costing ~$100 in materials.....it's just 2) 4x4's, like 6) 2x4's, and one sheet of 3/4'' mdf.

EDIT: oh yeah, and the price of goods is never coming down. regardless of what bloomberg is saying, if there's something you want/need, you really should buy it now because it will not be cheaper at any time in the future.

like ask yourself this: the thing you are waiting to do now, if you had actually just done it last year/the year before, how much would it have cost? has it gotten cheaper? is it really worth waiting for, and THEN it's still more expensive anyway?

i've read about people in weimar having to make sure they bought groceries on a friday after their check cashed because if you waited until Monday the prices would all go up.

that's what we're talking about here.
