ATT put in fiber when this addition went in but I was loyal to Cox and not wanting to lose my Cox email address for my business. After all the continued rate hikes at Cox we switched to ATT in January this year. The speed runs about 125mbps and we're paying $40/mo for the 1st year then it goes to $60 IIRC. So far it's been very good.
We did the opposite, (ATT -> COX) and for pretty much the same reasons. Lies, crappy customer service, rate hikes, outages etc.
They are all like this.
That company that you are thinking of switching to pissed me of royally several times over a decade ago and I have vowed to not let them get another dollar from me ever again.
I won't even speak their name. There is also a well known bank I feel the same about and I curse it everytime someone mentions using them.
If COX came to Shawnee I would jump at the chance to try it as our local provider is also on my "Do Not Ever Use" list.

They are both huge media conglomerates and both suck ass. We had AT&T UVerse for 10+ years in Georgia and have had Cox over the last 6 months here in Oklahoma. We haven't had any issues as of yet w/ Cox but had lots of bad interactions w/ AT&T over the years. I would go with the one that offers the cheapest service and just hope you never need to talk to anyone or get technical support.
What everybody says about they both (all) suck. We cut Cox Cable TV out a few years back ( I think it was that long ago) in favor of an antenna in the attic run to like 7 wall plugs in the house (all installed/connected by an off-duty Cox guy), and Sling, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. I still have Cox Internet. Got a neighbor works for AT&T...he's a dumbass though. I don't like either as a company, but whattaya gonna do? I know some guys on here work for one or the other outfits...sorry, but you know they suck as well as I do. I dumped AT&T cell phones in favor of Verizon a few years back too and get much better service with hardly any dropped calls.
Somebody smart invent a better way please. Anyone? Smart guys? C'mon, invent something better and cheaper with decent customer service.
They both have issues. I have used both off and on for years. If you can get uverse you can get high speeds. I have 100mb in South Tulsa. Cox I had continual issues with buffering at night. Their support was useless. Year came up they hiked price wouldnt budge. Called att used them a year. Had issues with equipment. At a year called to leave for better price. They doubled speed no contract for a year kept price same as when I signed up. Att is more flexible on price cox dosent care till you are gone. I use Sling, Netflix, Prime on multiple devices and have IP home phone.
