There are some devices that plug into the lightning port and let you save files that way. I don’t know why people complain about iCloud. It’s the best way to sync across devices and the BS about feeding skynet is just that. Using a PC to back up photos from an iPhone is about the most antiquated method ever. Apple is more secure than a PC will ever be. I’d also bet many of those photos are junk and should be deleted but maybe she wants to keep them all.

Agreed.

I keep all my photos on iCloud and sync with all my devices. Some of my important docs too. My devices are encrypted and I don't worry too much about snooping, Apple's privacy reputation is pretty solid. Google on the other hand....

You guys need to google "The Fappening", when thousands of icloud accounts were hacked and the celebrity pictures found were released to the public. They just don't let you know when there's a hack, unlike banks which have to release that info.

Also, Apple has admitted to scanning your Icloud photos. But don't mind me. I'm just an old coot with no knowledge of anything. Corporate America is always willing to give you free hard drive space with no ulterior motives whatsoever. They're your friend.

Kind of hard to do with advanced encryption.

IIRC, wasn't that hack several years ago at this point and led to many changes (both in terms of two factor authentication and end to end encryption, which even the FBI dislikes being out there).

And i'm sure you're aware of the amount of information given away through apps, even without icloud use. Apple now is allowing you to 'ask' apps not to track some information but if you're really worried about privacy then i doubt there is any personal device out there that would be considered 'safe'.

Anyone who has a smartphone or computer is susceptible to being hacked or info stolen. Apple is way more secure and by the way, space on Apple iCloud isn’t free. Apple does scan photos looking for child porn and has been very open about it.

Odd that the "advanced encryption" doesn't stop the F BI from viewing things. Perhaps that's because they backed out of it?

2fa was active at the time. The big change was the "end to end encryption" that they touted as the end all and be all answer, but without any hoopla Apple back tracked.

Entirely correct - however, if they're so secure how can they scan your photos for "chyld pron" if they're encrypted? If they're scanning your photos, do you really think they're not also scanning it for more? Any guns in your photos, you evil terrorist redneck? And Icloud is free for 5 gb. The more you know.....🌈

You’ve got your anti Apple mind made up. I’d suggest tin cans and a string along with Morse code for your secretive world. Enjoy.
